1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing or using the Likes Search for YouTube Chrome extension ("Extension"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install or use the Extension.

2. Description of Service

Likes Search for YouTube is a Chrome browser extension that allows you to search your liked YouTube videos using a keyboard-activated command palette (⌘K / Ctrl+K). The Extension stores video data locally in your browser and provides instant search functionality without transmitting video data to external servers.

3. Google API Services Compliance

By using this Extension, you agree to be bound by Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy:

The Extension uses YouTube Data API v3, which is subject to the YouTube Terms of Service.

You Acknowledge:

  • You must have a Google account to use the sync functionality
  • You grant the Extension permission to access your YouTube liked videos on your behalf (youtube.readonly scope)
  • You can revoke this permission at any time via Google Account settings
  • Google may suspend or terminate API access at their discretion
  • We are not responsible for changes to YouTube's API that affect the Extension's functionality

4. License Tiers & Pricing

4.1 Starter Tier

The Starter tier provides access to core search functionality with a limit of 300 indexed videos. The Starter tier is provided at no cost and may be used indefinitely.

4.2 Pro Tier

The Pro tier is available for a one-time payment of $19 USD and includes:

  • Unlimited video indexing
  • Advanced filtering options
  • Auto-sync functionality (configurable intervals)
  • Custom keyboard shortcuts
  • Priority email support
  • Lifetime updates

Pro licenses may be activated on up to 3 devices simultaneously.

Prices are subject to change for new purchases. Existing license holders are grandfathered at their original purchase price.

5. Pro License Terms

5.1 Device Limits & Activation

Each Pro license may be activated on up to 3 devices simultaneously. A "device" is defined as a unique Chrome browser profile installation.

Activation Process:

  1. Enter your license key in the Extension settings
  2. The Extension sends your license key and a randomly generated device ID to our backend for validation
  3. Upon successful validation, the license is bound to that device ID
  4. The device ID is stored locally and used for hourly license validation

Device Management:

  • You can view and deactivate devices by emailing sophytedigital@gmail.com
  • Deactivated devices will no longer validate the license
  • After deactivation, you can activate the license on a new device
  • Uninstalling the Extension does NOT automatically deactivate the license

5.2 License Validation

Pro licenses are validated hourly by communicating with api.sophyte.com. This requires:

  • Active internet connection
  • Firewall/network allows HTTPS requests to api.sophyte.com

Validation Failure:

If validation fails (due to network issues, server downtime, or license revocation):

  • The Extension will continue working in "grace period" mode for up to 24 hours
  • After 24 hours, Pro features will be disabled until validation succeeds
  • Your local data will NOT be deleted

We Validate Licenses To:

  • Prevent unauthorized sharing or resale
  • Enforce device limits
  • Detect fraudulent purchases
  • Process refunds and chargebacks

5.3 Transfer & Sharing Restrictions

Pro licenses are:

  • Non-transferable (cannot be sold or given to another person)
  • Non-refundable after 30 days (see Section 6)
  • Bound to the email address used for purchase
  • Subject to deactivation if we detect:
    • Sharing license keys publicly
    • Excessive device activations
    • Fraudulent payment methods
    • Violation of acceptable use policy

6. Payment, Refunds, & Stripe Terms

Payment Processing

All payments are processed by Stripe, our third-party payment processor. By purchasing a Pro license, you also agree to Stripe's Terms of Service.

We accept:

  • Credit/debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover)
  • PayPal
  • Other payment methods supported by Stripe (including Apple Pay, Google Pay, and more)

Pricing & Taxes

  • Prices are listed in USD
  • Applicable taxes (VAT, sales tax) are calculated at checkout
  • You are responsible for any taxes, duties, or fees imposed by your jurisdiction

Refund Policy

30-Day Money-Back Guarantee: If you are not satisfied with the Pro tier, you may request a full refund within 30 days of purchase by contacting sophytedigital@gmail.com. Include your license key and order ID. Briefly explain your reason (optional, not required). No questions asked.

Refund Process:

  • Refunds are ONLY available within 30 days of purchase
  • After 30 days, all sales are final
  • Refunds are processed within 5-7 business days to the original payment method
  • Upon refund, your license key will be deactivated
  • Chargeback disputes will result in permanent license revocation

No Refunds For:

  • Change of mind after 30 days
  • Incompatibility with YouTube changes (beyond our control)
  • Network/firewall issues preventing license validation
  • User error or misconfiguration

7. User Consent & OAuth Authorization

OAuth Consent Requirements

By using the Extension's sync functionality, you consent to:

  • Granting the Extension access to your Google account
  • Allowing the Extension to read your YouTube liked videos
  • Periodic API requests to YouTube Data API v3

OAuth Scope Requested

The Extension requests the following OAuth scope:

  • youtube.readonly - Read-only access to your YouTube account

What This Means

  • The Extension CAN view your liked videos list
  • The Extension CAN access video metadata (title, description, channel, etc.)
  • The Extension CANNOT modify, delete, or upload videos
  • The Extension CANNOT access private information beyond liked videos

Revoking Consent

You can revoke OAuth access at any time via:

  • Google Account settings → Find "YouTube Likes Search" → Click "Remove Access"
  • Note: Revoking access will prevent future syncs but won't delete local data

We Will NEVER:

  • Request access beyond the youtube.readonly scope
  • Use your OAuth token for purposes other than fetching liked videos
  • Share your OAuth token with third parties
  • Store your OAuth token on our backend servers

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Extension
  • Modify, adapt, or create derivative works of the Extension
  • Redistribute, sell, or sublicense the Extension or Pro licenses
  • Use the Extension for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to circumvent the Starter tier limitations or Pro license validation
  • Share license keys publicly or activate licenses on more than 3 devices
  • Use automated systems to abuse the Extension or backend API

9. Intellectual Property

The Extension, including its code, design, and documentation, is the intellectual property of Sophyte Digital LLC. All rights not expressly granted in these Terms are reserved.

YouTube is a trademark of Google LLC. Use of this trademark is subject to Google Permissions. Likes Search for YouTube is an independent project developed by Sophyte Digital LLC and is not affiliated with, authorized, maintained, sponsored, or endorsed by Google LLC or YouTube.

10. Third-Party Services & Disclaimer

The Extension relies on the following third-party services:

YouTube / Google

  • Provides YouTube Data API v3 for fetching liked videos
  • We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube or Google LLC
  • Changes to YouTube's API, website, or policies may affect the Extension's functionality
  • We are not responsible for YouTube downtime, API deprecation, or policy changes

Stripe

  • Processes payments and manages transactions
  • We do not store your payment information (Stripe does)
  • Stripe's terms apply to all transactions

Cloudflare

  • Hosts our backend API and database
  • Provides DDoS protection and caching
  • We are not responsible for Cloudflare outages or service disruptions

Disclaimer

We are not responsible for:

  • Third-party service downtime or changes
  • YouTube policy violations resulting from Extension use
  • Data loss due to Chrome updates or bugs
  • Network/firewall issues preventing license validation

11. Data Security & Privacy

Data Protection

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data, including:

  • HTTPS/TLS encryption for all API requests
  • Secure token storage via Chrome's identity API
  • Server-side license validation
  • Rate limiting and DDoS protection

However, no system is 100% secure. By using the Extension, you acknowledge:

  • We cannot guarantee absolute security
  • You are responsible for keeping your license key confidential
  • You should use strong Google account passwords and enable 2FA

Privacy Policy

Our Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please review it carefully to understand how we collect, use, and protect your data.

Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will:

  • Notify you via email within 72 hours
  • Provide details about what data was affected
  • Explain steps we're taking to mitigate the breach
  • Recommend steps you should take to protect yourself

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE EXTENSION IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NONINFRINGEMENT.

We do not guarantee that the Extension will be:

  • Uninterrupted or error-free
  • Compatible with future versions of Chrome or changes to YouTube
  • Free from bugs, viruses, or other harmful components
  • Accurate, complete, or reliable

13. Limitation of Liability

IN NO EVENT SHALL SOPHYTE DIGITAL LLC BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE EXTENSION, WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Pro license, if any. If you are a Starter tier user, our liability is limited to $0.

14. Termination & Suspension

Termination by You

You may terminate your use of the Extension at any time by:

Termination by Us

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Extension or Pro license without notice or refund if:

  • You violate these Terms of Service
  • You violate Google's Terms of Service or YouTube Terms of Service
  • You engage in fraudulent activity (e.g., chargeback fraud, key sharing)
  • You use the Extension for illegal purposes
  • We are required to do so by law or court order

Effects of Termination

  • Pro license will be deactivated immediately
  • Local data will remain on your device until you uninstall
  • No refunds will be provided for terminations due to violations
  • Backend data will be retained per our Privacy Policy (Section 8)

Survival

The following sections survive termination:

  • Section 9 (Intellectual Property)
  • Section 12 (Disclaimer of Warranties)
  • Section 13 (Limitation of Liability)
  • Section 15 (Governing Law & Dispute Resolution)

15. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms. Significant changes will be noted in the Extension's update notes on the Chrome Web Store.

We will make reasonable efforts to notify Pro license holders of material changes via email.

16. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Extension shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in a court of competent jurisdiction.
